“Neuralink, stop the experiments on animals!: Musk torture the monkeys, according to activists

Saturday 15 February 2025 beyond 50 activists of the Network for animal rights Direct Action Everywhere (DXE) organized one Protest in front of a neuralink laboratory in Fremont, California. The goal of the event was denouncing the invasive tests that the Elon Musk company leads to primates, pigs and other animalsoften subjected to the cerebral chip system.

The activists exhibited a huge head of Elon Musk with a cartoon bearing the phrase “I Torture Monkeys” (“I torture the monkeys“), Together with a large banner with the word” Stop Elon’s Monkey Business “(” Stop the Musk monkeys business “).

Some demonstrators dressed in monkeys locked in cages, while others showed signs with slogans such as “Primates are not prototypes“. During the protest, several residents of the Bay Area, including an ex -experimenter, took the floor for condemn the cruelty of animal experimentation and underline the cognitive and emotional skills shared between primates and human beings.

More than 1,500 animals have undergone experiments and suppressed

Neuralink has been criticized for the speed and poor accuracy with which experiments are conducted, often with lethal outcomes for the animals involved. According to internal testimonies, the pressure exerted by Musk to accelerate the development of technology has led to Errors in testsforcing the repetition of experiments e increasing the number of sacrificed animals.

From 2018, More than 1,500 animals, including over 280 sheep, pigs and monkeyshave been subjected to experiments and subsequently suppressed. A federal investigation has been opened by the United States Agriculture Department to investigate possible violations of animal welfare legislation.

The former Neuralink employees reported that the lack of preparation and pressure to obtain quick results led to avoidable errors, such as the system of wrong or inserted devices in the incorrect vertebrae. In some cases, these errors have caused serious suffering to animals, making their euthanasia necessary.

Carla Cabral, DXE organizer, has connected Neuralink practices to a wider model than Musk’s abuse of powernot only denouncing animal experimentation but also his hostile rhetoric towards marginalized groups.

During the protest, some activists tried to deliver a sink to the laboratoryin reference to Musk’s scenic entry into Twitter headquarters with a sink in his hands to announce his arrival with the phrase “Let That Sink in”. However, security rejected the symbolic gesture.

DXE is known for his under cover investigations within farms, slaughterhouses and workshops research, documenting abuses on animals and saving those in critical conditions. The organization has faced the FBI RAID and processes for its actions, but obtained a historic acquittal in 2022 for an open rescue case.
