Starting from 1 April 2025the city of New York has officially started its most ambitious campaign against food waste: thecomposting obligation for all citizens of the five districts. The goal? Drastically reduce the amount of waste given to landfills and face once and for all chronic problems such as urban pollution and proliferation of rats.
The plan imposes on the residents of separate properly leftovers of food, dirty paper, vegetable waste and other compostable materialsto be conferred in special containers with lid and equipped with an identification label supplied for free.
The fines are there, but only for a few
