From the Alps to Sardinia, passing through villages, historic villas, gardens, woods and stretches of coast: Panorama Day returns on Sunday 6 September 2026, the initiative dedicated to the discovery of the Italian landscape through guided tours, walks, workshops and outdoor activities.
The program involves numerous FAI assets and other places of particular naturalistic and cultural interest, with proposals designed to observe the territory from different perspectives and better understand its history, biodiversity and transformations.
Panorama Day 2026
The common thread of the day will naturally be the landscape, not only as a scenario to photograph, but as the result of the encounter between nature, history and the presence of man.
On the program there are walks with environmental guides, visits to villas and castles, excursions, art workshops, family experiences and even astronomical observations and activities at sea. The events will take place in various Italian regions and, in some cases, will be preceded by initiatives already on Saturday 5 September.
In Piedmont among castles, paintings and alpine landscapes
Among the Piedmontese events there is the one at the Masino Castle and Park, in Caravino, where an environmental hiking guide will accompany visitors to discover the Morainic Amphitheater of Ivrea and the Serra d’Ivrea, explaining how the ancient glacier shaped the territory.
At the Castello della Manta, however, the panorama will be observed both at night and during the day: on Saturday there will be an experience dedicated to the starry sky, while on Sunday the visits will allow you to admire, among others, Monviso, Monte Rosa and the Langhe.
The Enrico Collection at Villa Flecchia, in Magnano, will instead combine observation of the landscape and art, with visits to the pictorial collections and a live watercolor lesson.
At the Oasi Zegna, in the Biella Alps, the day will also be accompanied by music, with open-air concerts and cultural events.
In Liguria the panorama is discovered between Portofino and Cinque Terre
At the Abbey of San Fruttuoso, in Camogli, it will be possible to delve deeper into the evolution of the landscape and the village through historical photographs, followed by a nature walk in the territory of the Portofino Park.
At Villa Rezzola, in the Lerici area, participants will be able to observe the Gulf of La Spezia with binoculars, with views that include Lerici, Palmaria, Tino and Portovenere.
The proposal of Podere Lovara in Punta Mesco is more excursion-friendly, reachable on foot along the path between Levanto and Monterosso: from here short guided treks will start towards the remains of the hermitage of Sant’Antonio, including insights into flora, fauna and geology.
Lombardy, from the greenery of Bergamo to the views of Lake Como
At Palazzo Moroni, in Bergamo, the landscape will become a tool for comparing different environments: from the spontaneous nature of the Botanical Garden to the Italian garden and vegetable garden of the historic palace.
At the Torre del Soccorso, in Tremezzina, Lake Como will be the protagonist. From the ancient fortified structure the view can reach Bellagio, Villa del Balbianello, the Comacina Island, Argegno and the reliefs of the opposite bank.
In Veneto between the Euganean Hills and the architecture of Carlo Scarpa
At Villa dei Vescovi, on the Euganean Hills, there are guided tours dedicated to the relationship between the villa and the landscape, walks in the Brolo and activities for families with children dedicated to the observation of colours, shapes and details of nature.
At the Brion Memorial in Altivole, however, a special visit will be dedicated to vegetation and its relationship with the architecture of Carlo Scarpa, in a place where plants, geometric shapes and buildings are closely intertwined.
In Trentino, walks and visits to the Avio Castle
The Castle of Avio, in Trentino, will offer walks around the manor, guided tours inside the walls and activities dedicated to families.
Visitors will be able to observe the castle from different perspectives and overlook the Vallagarina, with the possibility of organizing a picnic in the terraced gardens.
In Recanati the landscape also becomes “internal”
In the Marche the appointment is at the Orto sul Colle dell’Infinito, a place closely linked to the figure and poetry of Giacomo Leopardi. In addition to the visits dedicated to reading the landscape, the workshop “From the Garden on the Hill of the Infinite to the interior landscape” is scheduled at 3pm, which will invite participants to reinterpret the colours, shapes and suggestions observed from the Hill through collage.
In Tivoli between history, nature and plein air painting

Villa Gregoriana, in Tivoli, will also participate in Panorama Day. A special “relay” visit will see an art historian, a biologist and a gardener alternate, called to tell from different points of view the evolution of a territory profoundly transformed after the great flood of 1826.
In the afternoon there will also be an en plein air painting session, inspired by the Aniene gorge, the rocks, the vegetation and the temples that characterize the site.
In Assisi a walk between the Middle Ages and Land Art

In Umbria, from the Bosco di San Francesco in Assisi, a guided tour will start from the Upper Basilica to Michelangelo Pistoletto’s Third Paradise. The path will cross olive groves, woods, clearings and ancient structures, intertwining the story of medieval spirituality with archeology and contemporary art.
In Campania trekking and snorkeling in the Bay of Ieranto
At the Bay of Ieranto, in Massa Lubrense, the landscape can be observed from land but also from the sea. In fact, the day includes guided trekking along the paths of the bay, with stops at panoramic points, and the possibility of continuing the experience by kayak or snorkelling, also discovering the submerged landscape of the Marine Protected Area of Punta Campanella.
In Matera, a walk in the Sassi at dawn

Among the most evocative events of the program is the one organized at Casa Noha, in Matera. The departure is set at 5.30 in the morning from Piazza Vittorio Veneto: an itinerary in the Sassi designed to observe the city when the streets are still silent and the light of dawn highlights houses, alleys and architecture carved into the rock.
In Sardinia among salt pans, flamingos and trekking at sunset
At the Saline Conti Vecchi, near Cagliari, the usual train route will be extended to reach lesser-known corners of the Santa Gilla Lagoon.
Among salt basins, Mediterranean vegetation and mountains of salt, it will also be possible to observe the numerous animal species present in the area, including herons and pink flamingos.
At Punta Don Diego, in Palau, the Talmone Military Battery will instead offer activities for families, visits and a short evening trek to the barracks, with the possibility of ending the day in front of the sunset.
Panorama Day 2026: when and how to participate
Panorama Day is mainly scheduled for Sunday 6 September 2026, although some initiatives will start as early as Saturday 5 September.
