Pozzuoli inaugurates its first inclusive playground: 1,000 m² accessible to all children, with tactile maps and without barriers

On Sunday 8 February 2026, at 11 am, the municipality of Pozzuoli in the province of Naples will inaugurate its first inclusive playground, the Parco Senza Frontiere, located in via Vecchia delle Vigne. The initiative was born from a very important question in its simplicity: “Where can children with different abilities play together without feeling excluded?”.

The idea was proposed by Florinda Tegazzini, mother of two children, one of whom is blind, and shared by other families, becoming a collective project that has spanned years of work and collaboration between citizens, associations and institutions. The area extends over approximately 1,000 m², with anti-trauma flooring, tactile paths, picnic areas and dynamic areas designed to allow every child to feel part of the game without barriers.

Inclusive games and equipment

Among the main attractions are inclusive swings, accessible rotating carousels, tactile sensory waves, wide-lane slides, zip line with compliant seat, audible communication systems, ergonomic benches, accessible tables and tactile maps.

Every detail is designed to accommodate children with different abilities and disabilities, offering a safe and fun experience for everyone. The creation of the park was possible thanks to mixed financing, combining public funds from the Municipality of Pozzuoli and donations from the community and associations.

The Mayor of Pozzuoli defines the new park:

A place designed for all children, without distinction, where the right to play becomes truly universal. An inclusive, accessible, safe green area where everyone can move, have fun and share experiences in complete freedom.

The Music Area thanks to the Gabry Little Hero association

A special element of the park is the Music Area, made possible by the Gabry Little Hero association, born from the story of Gabriele, the only child in Italy affected by SIFD and saved by a bone marrow transplant in 2019. Monica Costanzo, Gabriele’s aunt and Vice-President of the association, states:

Looking at this area, I think about how much Gabry’s story has united people, territories and energies. The Music Area is our thank you: thanks to those who give, to those who build, to those who include. It is a place that was born from the silence of a child but which today gives voice back to an entire community.

This space allows children to explore sounds and musical stimuli in a completely accessible way, transforming creativity into a tool for inclusion.

A message of community and inclusion

The Park Without Borders is much more than just a place to play. In fact, it brings with it a concrete message: differences are not obstacles, but opportunities to grow together. The park encourages children to develop empathy and awareness, while the local community celebrates collective participation and the value of inclusion. The inauguration will be a moment of celebration and sharing, demonstrating that collaboration between citizens, associations and institutions can transform a dream into concrete reality for the entire city and that no one should be left behind.
