The tradition of helping those most in need during the Christmas holidays is renewed in the British royal family. This year, Prince William took his 12-year-old son Prince George with him to the Passage homeless shelter in Westminster, the same facility where Lady D accompanied 11-year-old William in 1993. The intent is clear: to convey to her son the importance of solidarity and responsibility towards those less fortunate, just like her mother did with him.

William and George spent hours in the facility, assisting the staff in preparing Christmas lunch for around 150 people. During the visit, George learned about the reality of homelessness and the organization’s activities. Mick Clarke, managing director of the Passage, welcomed the little prince by asking him: “Are you ready to roll up your sleeves and dive in?”. The young heir to the throne dedicated himself with enthusiasm, demonstrating great interest and commitment.
A symbolic passing of the baton
At the end of the day, George signed the commemorative sheet of the same refuge that his father and Lady D had signed in December 1993. At the moment of signing, William explained to George that it was a passing of the baton and that where he was affixing hers, his grandmother had also signed by taking him there for the first time.
William therefore wants his son to understand the importance of knowing real life outside the Palace and that he can concretely contribute to the well-being of the most vulnerable people. In this way, little Prince George can begin to understand in practice what it means to be part of a socially engaged royal family and internalize the values that his grandmother Lady D and his father have always embodied.

Elodie and Franz also serve at the Christmas dinner
But not only in England, but also in Italy, Christmas initiatives in favor of the most needy are involving well-known faces. In Milan, the singer Elodie and the comedian Franz participated in the Christmas dinner organized by the Progetto Arca Foundation in Piazza San Babila. The traditional initiative, which has supported people in poverty and serious social exclusion for 30 years, saw around 150 homeless people welcomed with a hot meal, Christmas decorations and gifts.
Elodie, with her hair down and wearing the Foundation’s blue sweatshirt, served the steaming dishes together with Franz, without fuss or announcements, sharing moments of joy and sharing with the volunteers. The Foundation explained:
A Christmas for everyone… no one excluded! Yesterday the traditional Christmas dinner took place in the street with our homeless friends. We also put up the Christmas tree, decorated the table, laughed and joked like a big family.
