Red Sprite in the Tibet sky: the breathtaking video of the very rare ‘red spectra’ similar to jellyfish conquers social networks

Is called “Red Spritite“(In Italian:” Red sprites “or” red spectrum “) and is a rare and fascinating atmospheric electrical phenomenon, which manifests itself well above the storm clouds.

Unlike traditional lightnings, which head down, the “sprites” are large electric discharges that propagate upwards, at the top of the atmosphere, generating a mysterious red glow. Their ethereal shapes recall bright jellyfish or fireworks suspended in the sky, creating a show with an almost otherworldly flavor.

Just these days, Tibet’s night sky hosted one of these extraordinary eventsimmortalized in a masterful way byChinese astrophotographer Dong Shuchang. His Video, published on social media, immediately became viralenchanting millions of people.

It is not the first time that Dong manages to capture this elusive phenomenon: already in April, together with his colleague Angel An, he had achieved exceptional results. Since the curious phenomenon occurs at high altitudes and lasts only a fraction of a second, each recovery represents a precious contribution, both for the scientific community and for all of us!
