Imagine spending a weekend immersed in nature, surrounded by historic vineyards, enjoying fine wines and vegetarian dishes prepared with local products. All this is “Roman Campaigns”an exclusive experience that from 30 November to 6 January 2024 allows you to combine food and wine, tradition and innovation in the evocative setting of Fiorano estate of Prince Alessandro Boncompagni Ludovisi, custodian of a long winemaking tradition that respects the environment and enhances the territory.
Located in the heart of Appia Antica Park, a stone’s throw from Rome, in fact, stands this pearl of the Roman countryside known for its highly prized wines which, starting from November 30th, opens its doors to visitors allowing you to live a truly unique and exclusive experience capable of combining flavors and traditions of Lazio in a truly unique and privileged location. Thanks to Magnolia Eventi, we had the honor of participating in the preview of Roman campaigns and to have the Prince tell us directly Alessandro Boncompagni Ludovisithe history of this wonderful estate that has remained intact in the heart of the most famous Roman road in the world.
The Fiorano estate extends for 200 hectaresof which 12 are dedicated to vineyards, while the rest is reserved for the cultivation of olive trees, wheat, alfalfa and grazing. Here, since the 1940s, the pioneering choice was made to introduce international vines such as cabernet sauvignon and merlot, alongside native vines, under the guidance of prominent figures such as the oenologist Tancredi Biondi Santi, known as the “father of Brunello di Montalcino”.
The Prince told us how the wines of the Tenuta di Fiorano are the famous Fiorano Rosso that the White Fioranoare still produced today with artisanal methods, respecting tradition. The bottles rest in the historic tuff cave, where humidity and constant temperature guarantee perfect aging and each bottle is labeled by hand to preserve its integrity until the last moment.
Not just wines, however: the Prince shared anecdotes about the Boncompagni Ludovisi family, whose coat of arms – a dragon with three diagonal bands – still dominates the bottles and the portal of the estate. The family boasts, in fact, an illustrious history, which culminated in the sixteenth century with Pope Gregory XIIIcreator of the Gregorian calendar.
An experience for everyone
A unique experience not only for wine enthusiasts: “Campagne Romane” is designed to be inclusive and welcoming also for lovers of good food, thanks to the collaboration with Hosteria Amedeo. which, currently under renovation in its historic headquarters in Monte Porzio Catone, temporarily moves to this suggestive location for the cycle of events, offering its personal selection for lunch every weekend, also in a vegetarian version, with seasonal menus and off-the-card dishes that enhance local flavors and the territory. We, for example, still have the explosion of taste of cauliflower in white wine in our mouths.
Also included in the program are activities for children, such as the honey workshop, but also unique experiences such as wine trekking and e-bike routes. It can also be a great experience if you still don’t know what to do for Christmas or New Year.
Events and dates to mark in your diary
The project therefore represents a perfect combination of tradition and modernity: respect for the territory and the quality of the products combine with a food and wine experience with attention to the smallest details. Every weekend will be an opportunity to discover Lazio through taste, culture and the art of conviviality.
From November 30th, the estate will open its doors to the public with a series of unmissable events:
Special appointments are also planned for Christmas holidays:
