Shein scandal: “childish” sex dolls for sale on the site, the complaint is triggered

Dolls with an explicit child pornography message: in France, Shein is now also dealing with the sexualization of products that apparently seem intended for children.

Practically always reported for deceptive commercial practices and undignified working conditions, in fact, this time the Asian e-commerce giant was reported to French justice for the marketing of child pornography sex dolls (now apparently removed from the platform).

A few days before Shein opened its first permanent physical store in Paris, the French Fraud Control Authority (DGCCRF) announced in recent days that it had reported the sale of “childish looking sex dolls” to the courts after noticing their presence on the e-commerce site.

Their description and categorization on the site makes it difficult to doubt the child pornographic nature of the content, the Directorate General for Competition, Consumer Affairs and Fraud Control said in a statement.

The dolls sold on Shein

These are dolls with the features and body of a little girl with a teddy bear in her arms. Next, this sordid description:

“Sex doll (…) male masturbation toy with erotic body and real vagina and anus”.

All for 186.94 euro.

In a statement sent to AFP, the Chinese brand said that the products “they were immediately withdrawn from the platform as soon as we became aware of these issues“, saying it applies a “zero tolerance policy”.

Meanwhile, it is already the third time in a year that the giant has been fined by France, for a total of 191 million euros, for violating regulations on online cookies, false promotions, misleading information and failure to declare the presence of plastic microfibres in its products.
