Have you ever organized a tea party at your house? There are some rules to follow which concern the time (preferably 5pm sharp), the location (if it’s sunny, it’s better outdoors) and various details of the table. For example, napkins should be small and square and should not be missing accompanying pastries, lemon slices, sugar and a jug of milk.
When setting the table, focus on fabric tablecloths and favor porcelain teapots and cups. Tiered cake stands are also perfect, and don’t forget dessert plates.
As for the decorations, let yourself be inspired by your good taste and some original ideas, even better if they are DIY. So as well as being beautiful and inviting, your table will also be green!
Centerpiece with paper doilies
Paper cake doilies can be used to create a delicate and romantic centrepiece, ideal for your tea party. Select about twenty of them of various sizes and join them to each other with a bit of glue stick, giving shape to your centrepiece.
Centerpiece with sheets of old books
Don’t ruin old books by tearing the sheets, only do this if the book is battered and of little value. In this case you can join the sheets with a glue stick or pieces of double-sided tape, giving shape to your centrepiece.
Floral decorations with tin cans
If you have some vintage tin cans, nothing better than using them to embellish the tea party table. All you have to do is clean them, pour in some water and insert the flowers.
Candles in the cups
The cups are not only used for drinking tea but also for decorating the table: used as candles they will bring a truly special vintage touch.
Colorful envelopes for tea bags
Instead of storing tea bags in traditional containers, you could place them in special colored bags, one for each guest.
Paper placeholder
As for place cards, the simplest thing to do is to make them with white cardboard. We suggest creating cute graphics, adding the guest’s name using a romantic font, and printing the labels. Simply attach them to wooden sticks and insert them into cups filled with blueberries.
