The 2026 teacher card has been unlocked: money arriving by February (but the amount will be reduced)

After several postponements, the 2026 teacher charter will finally be operational by the end of February. The amount available to teachers will be around 400 euros, slightly lower than in previous years due to the expansion of the group of beneficiaries, which also includes temporary workers with contracts until 30 June or 31 August. The final green light will depend on the Ministry of Economy, but once the sum has been credited it will be possible to generate the vouchers and start purchasing.

Who is entitled to it and crediting times

This year the Teacher Card will reach tenured and temporary teachers, thus expanding the possibility of accessing the bonus. The accreditation will take place by February 28th, allowing you to plan refresher courses, books and useful teaching tools in advance. Unlocking the card means that the funds actually become available and that teachers will be able to access the platform to create shopping vouchers.

Reduced amount of 100 euros

As mentioned, the drop to around 400 euros is a consequence of the inclusion of around 200 thousand temporary workers in the system. Despite the lower amount compared to the previous 500 euros, the bonus maintains its educational value: it can be spent on books, courses, exhibitions, shows, software and hardware, even if the purchase of computers, tablets or programs can only be repeated every four years. This rule concerns the purchase of technological goods and software, while other cultural tools remain purchasable without time limitations.

New mechanism: loan for use of PCs and tablets

An important innovation concerns school funds: with over 250 million euros allocated, institutes will be able to purchase teaching materials and technological tools to provide to teachers on loan for use. This allows us to partially compensate for the reduced amount of the card. Teachers will be able to request computers, tablets or training courses from the school, which will remain the property of the institute but will be made available for teaching.

The objective remains to encourage professional updating and improve teaching. The bonus must therefore be used in a targeted way, favoring purchases that have a real impact on the daily work and cultural and professional growth of teachers.
