The best Champagne or crémant to celebrate New Year's Eve 2025 (the French ranking)

Bubbles synonymous with parties? It has always been like this without a doubt and, with Christmas aside, all we can do is toast the new year. The French magazine 60 Millions de Consumers asked ten wine experts (master sommeliers, tasting trainers, oenology technicians) to evaluate 30 bottles of champagne and Crémant de Bourgogne.

The choice focused on 15 white champagnes sold between 22.49 and 42 euros in large-scale retail trade, at wine shops and specialized sales points, and on 15 Crémants de Bourgogne sold from 6.75 euros to 14.70 euros.

First of all let’s say that, if champagne still maintains medium-high prices, it is crémant that is making inroads with a good quality/price ratio. Produced according to “champagne method”, in fact, it does not require a high budget: on average, a bottle of crémant is affordable, with prices around 10 euros, unlike most champagnes which are often sold at much higher prices. Furthermore, crémant is produced in various French wine regions, such as Burgundy, Alsace or Jura, thus ensuring a diversity of flavors and styles.

For the blind tasting Of 60 million consumersthe choice was also oriented towards champagne blanc de blancs (which is based on the exclusive use of 100% Chardonnay white grapes).
