The chapel of the Palestinian Madonna in Naples destroyed: the symbol of the child victims of war vandalised

It appeared in July 2025 as a message of solidarity towards all child victims of war and has now been completely destroyed. It is the small chapel of the Palestinian Madonna in Vico Trucco, in the center of Naples.

The cultural association No Comment, led by, documented the event Antonio Alfanowhich during the urban monitoring of 13 February 2026 recorded the destruction of the chapel which had appeared a few months earlier as a message of peace. Fragile signs, yes, but precisely for this reason precious.

According to what residents reported, the act dates back to last week and was violent and difficult to attribute to a simple prank. Yet, amidst the confusion, a promise remains: the chapel will be rebuilt and the altar will return to its place after the restoration of the statuette. Because certain symbols, when they speak of care and wounded childhood, cannot really be erased.

Meanwhile, the No Comment Association continues its work of civic surveillance against all forms of vandalism, in defense of Neapolitan culture and tradition.

And perhaps this is precisely the deepest meaning of what happened: to remind us that peace is not an immobile symbol, but a fragile gesture that needs to be defended every day, with stubborn care. Even when it is broken, it can return to exist thanks to the hands of a community that chooses not to remain indifferent. Because rebuilding a small sign of hope, ultimately, means continuing to believe that beauty and compassion still have a place in the world.
