In a video posted by the Instagram account @las_tortugas_portenas the story is told, fortunately with a happy ending, of a male turtle. Victim of a fall from a balcony, Flash it was abandoned. The animal suffered a shell fracture but without damaging the spine or lungs.
When he was brought to the facility he was in critical conditionswith a lot of dirt on the body and an obvious pain. The first thing they did was remove the dirt and proceed with a thorough cleaning of wounddisinfecting it carefully. They subsequently administered antibiotics, painkillers and an anti-inflammatory to alleviate his state of suffering.
To prevent the wound from becoming contaminated and prevent any infection, they bandaged the affected area. Despite his initial condition, the male turtle showed signs of improvement. After four days he started eating and showed more active behavior.
The turtle is not a pet!
It was certainly a positive sign, but to be sure of his internal condition they still planned to do an x-ray. The aim was to check for any damage to internal organs and ascertain whether he may have been hit during the fall.
As mentioned, with this specimen everything went well despite the initial scare and the great pain felt by the turtle. However, his story once again serves as a warning: it is essential to remember that turtles they are wild animals and should not be kept as pets.
Often, in fact, people are not aware of the specific needs of these animals and can, involuntarily, put them in danger. If someone has a turtle as a pet, it is essential that they take care of it properly, ensuring the environment and conditions necessary for its well-being.
