The heat returns with the Roman October: temperatures up to 26°C also in Northern Italy

After a taste of late autumn, Italy finds its milder face with the arrival of the Roman October, the period of good weather that every year makes you forget about autumn. After days of wind, rain and temperature drops, an African anticyclone brings back sunshine and decidedly pleasant temperatures. In Rome, peaks of up to 26 degrees are expected, with clear days and a sky that smells of late summer.

All this thanks to the high pressure that is taking hold of the Peninsula, giving a stable and bright week. The cyclone that hit the country in recent days is moving towards Greece, leaving room for a serene climate, ideal for walks in parks, trips out of town and outdoor lunches.

Rome and the Centre-North enjoy the sun

The Central-North and the Capital will benefit most from this phase in particular. Temperatures fluctuate between 24 and 26 degrees, with a slight increase compared to the seasonal average of 23.5°C. From Tuesday 7 October onwards, the warm air will affect all of Lazio and a large part of the Po Valley.

The weather will therefore be “postcard-like” with clear skies and spring temperature values. The cities of the North, from Milan to Bologna, will experience almost summer days, while the northern winds will continue to blow in the South, where the sea will remain rough and the temperatures will be lower.

Italy will therefore experience an autumn in reverse: warmer in the North and cooler in the South. A dynamic that meteorologists define as a “seasonal change”, typical of the transition months. The Roman October will expand to the Po Valley, bringing a period of stability before the return of the bad weather expected from mid-month.

This phase of sun and warmth is a small gift for those who love the autumn season without giving up the pleasure of a mild climate. The Romans, as per tradition, will take advantage of the weekend to walk among historic villas and monuments, celebrating their typical way of greeting summer with a last toast to the sun.
