The installation signed by the Italian Jacopo di Cera for the international art fair “Art Dubai 2025”, now now in its 17th edition, is called Retreat. Protagonists of his work are Forty monitors made with sustainable materialswhich tell with great intensity and visual impact the collapse of the glaciers.
Cera transforms rigorous scientific data – numbers and measurements relating to climate change and reduction of glaciers – in an artistic language, making them more “understandable”.
This approach makes them even more impacting for the public, which sees them flow in the form of moving images and visual sequences, which follow one another in loop from one monitor to another. The vertical composition contributes to making the sense of urgency and ineluctability even stronger, amplifying the emotional and engaging impact of the work.

Not to mention the fluid narrationwhich guides the public through the transformation of ice, from the initial imposing and static nature to its progressive dissolution in the water, an inevitable process that is repeated without endless, just like the global warming that continues to shape our planet.

At the center of this visual experience we find the Brenva glacier, One of the most impressive formations of Mont Blanc, a symbol of an irreversible change. Over the past 100 years he has lost more than 300 meters thick, retiring 200 meters only in the last twenty years.
With such a powerful visual representation of the climatic crisis, The artist invites us to reflect on our relationship with the nature and resources we consumeencouraging us to change course and take responsibility for our choices.

Retteat will be open from 18 to 22 April in Dubai, on the occasion of Art Dubai 2025, at Madinat Jumeirah.
