The rediscovery of the benefits of hemp creates jobs despite regulatory obstacles, the story of Lorella Mich

For millennia, the enormous benefits of hemp have been used in many fields, from natural medicine, nutrition, cosmetics and much more. In more recent times, however, this plant has been unfairly associated with marijuana with psychotropic effects and has therefore been banned from trade. But light hemp has nothing to do with narcotic substances and the market has finally realized this.

As well as Lorella Mich, a very young entrepreneur from Trentino who, with her startup Dolomiti BioHemp has decided to invest precisely in this. In fact, he created a company that produces and markets hemp-based products and promotes its many benefits.

Today we met her. With a transparent and sustainability-oriented approach, Lorella tells us her story, the company’s vision and commitment to a greener future.

Lorella, before talking about your company, tell us a little about yourself…

Of course, with pleasure!

I am originally from Predazzo, a small mountain town in Trentino, where I was lucky enough to grow up surrounded by nature and agricultural work. I have always collaborated in the family business, learning the importance of the land, cultivation and care of natural resources and these roots are still very present in my way of seeing work and sustainability.

How did the idea of launching your own entrepreneurial project come about?

For years I worked in the family business, alternating study and work. After graduating in Economics I decided to have a different experience by joining a multinational, where I was faced with a more structured and competitive environment. Right here the desire to create something of my own was born in me, a project that could combine respect for nature and innovation.

Why a startup in the hemp sector?

It all comes from my two great passions: holistic health and attention to the environment and hemp is the perfect meeting point of both. It is in fact an extraordinary plant, rich in beneficial properties, which has shown that it can help improve the psychophysical well-being of many people.

When I approached the world of hemp, I realized that in Italy this sector was still very young and little explored compared to other European countries. From there was born the desire to bring a new vision and create a line of natural, sustainable products capable of improving people’s quality of life.

An ambitious challenge…

Yes, it’s true! And I confess that it has not been an easy path: the hemp industry requires technical knowledge and is subject to very specific and often variable regulations, but all this makes the challenge even more stimulating and the goals even more satisfying. In fact, we started from Val di Fiemme with the aim of becoming a point of reference in the natural wellness sector and today we are a leading company in the Italian market. And this is a source of immense pride for us.

What are the main products you offer?

The Dolomiti BioHemp line ranges from CBD oils to cosmetics and hemp foods and drinks. Everything is formulated with cannabis grown by us in Predazzo with organic methods and other natural ingredients selected with extreme care.

The latest release is an anti-inflammatory CBD patch to release joint and muscle tension, a great natural alternative to over-the-counter medications that our customers are already loving!

How do you differentiate yourself from your competitors?

We are keen to guarantee maximum transparency: in fact, we control the entire production and sales chain 360° and each of our products is subjected to rigorous tests.

Unlike many competitors, we focus a lot on “Italianness”. In fact, we are one of the very few companies that grows hemp itself and this allows us to maintain high standards of quality, purity and safety. Each product is made to meet specific needs, such as reducing stress, improving sleep or fighting skin inflammation such as psoriasis.

How do you see the future of hemp in Italy?

Promising, but there are still many obstacles to overcome.

At a legislative level, the lack of clear regulations slows down the development of the market and creates a certain distrust towards hemp-derived products. I believe that more defined regulation is crucial to unlocking the full potential of this sector.

What is your biggest challenge right now?

Precisely this: raising awareness among consumers, but also institutions, on the benefits of hemp and CBD, which are still too little known today. We therefore want to promote a new hemp culture and reassure you of its total safety.

However, we are convinced that it is only a matter of time. Italy has all the potential to become a cutting-edge country in the production of CBD-based products and we are sure that the entire sector will gain more and more credibility.

What makes hemp such a special plant?

In addition to its incredible beneficial powers, it is a plant carbon negativewhich means that it absorbs more CO2 than is produced during its cultivation, actively contributing to reducing environmental impact.

There cannabis plant It therefore perfectly matches one of the founding principles of Dolomiti BioHemp, attention to sustainability.

How do you integrate sustainable practices into your business model?

The entire Dolomiti BioHemp supply chain follows an eco-sustainable approach and relies on laboratories and third parties who share our philosophy.

In our Green House we also follow the principles of organic cultivation and do not use pesticides or harmful chemicals.

Every aspect of our production process, from packaging to logistics, is designed to reduce the use of non-renewable resources and the release of carbon dioxide. We therefore use recyclable or compostable materials for packaging, such as hemp paper and corn fibre.

Furthermore, most Dolomiti BioHemp employees work remotely for at least 2 days a week. In this way we can reduce 720 kg of Co2 emissions and 420 liters of fuel per year.

Even though we are still a small company, with our actions we want to concretely contribute to a circular and sustainable economy.

What are the next steps to innovate and grow further?

Our goal is to expand both nationally and internationally, bringing our products outside the Italian borders. This is why we are working on a more advanced e-commerce platform that will allow us to reach European customers.

In parallel, we want to continue investing in research and development to expand our product range. In fact, we are constantly looking for new formulations and technologies that allow us to make the most of the potential of hemp. The latest innovation we have just launched is a CBD anti-inflammatory patch, a natural alternative to pharmaceutical patches that our customers are already loving to combat neck pain, lower back pain and muscle tension.

What is your vision for the future of your company?

We look to the future with ambition, but always keeping our values of quality, transparency and respect for the environment intact. I firmly believe that psychophysical well-being and sustainability can and must go hand in hand, and this is the path we want to continue to follow.

Lorella is a visionary leader who was able to grasp the potential of hemp and transform it into a successful business project.

His startup not only aims to improve people’s well-being, but also represents a model of sustainability and innovation in a rapidly growing sector. With a clear vision of the future and a strong commitment to the environment, Lorella and her team are writing a new page in the natural wellness industry in Italy.
