The initiative is the result of collaboration between the Sicily Region and FS Treni Turistici Italiani, with public funding exceeding 150,000 euros. The objective is to offer a concrete alternative to the high ticket prices that every year penalize those who want to return home during the holidays. Over the years the Sicilia Express has transformed into a highly anticipated event, capable of combining convenience and a sense of community.
Dates, times and stops
The train leaves Thursday 2 April at 11.50 from Turin Porta Nuova, crosses the Centre-North touching the main cities along the route and arrives in Messina on Friday 3 April at 8.45. From there, the carriages divide towards two destinations:
The return journey is scheduled for Tuesday 7 April, with the reverse route.
Ticket prices and sales
There are 550 places available and, as in previous editions, they are likely to be sold out within a few minutes of opening. The price starts from 29.90 euros, with variations based on the type of seat chosen, and sales will open on Sunday 22 March on the official channels of the Sicily Region and FS Treni Turistici Italiani.
How to secure your ticket
To avoid being left empty-handed, it is best to be ready: connect to the sales channels a few minutes before the opening, have the details of all passengers and a quick payment method at hand. It is also worth evaluating both final destinations — Palermo or Syracuse — so you can choose based on availability at the time of purchase.
