The new LEGO® Ideas Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory set takes fans directly into the surreal and colorful world of the 1971 cult film. Inspired by Roald Dahl’s novel, the model reproduces Willy Wonka’s factory, from the laboratory full of sweets to the famous chocolate waterfall. With this set, builders can immerse themselves in a unique interactive experience, recreating every corner of the factory.

An all-Italian project
The project is the result of the work of Italian fan designers Roberto Ceruti and Jody Padulano, known as 2PPL, who presented their original proposal on LEGO Ideas in 2021. The first version had already reached the 10,000 votes needed to be considered by LEGO Ideas but had not been approved.
To make this happen, the designers continued to refine the project, updating it with new details – such as the bridge and the Wonkatania boat, which allows you to sail along the chocolate river – features and custom pieces, until it was finally transformed into an official set.

A world of minifigures and hidden details
Their goal was to recreate not only the factory itself, but also capture the magic that made the film unforgettable. Hence the idea to include the motorized chocolate waterfall that can be operated with a knob, the Wonkatania boat, the sugar trees and lollipop plants, the Oompa Loompa work area, as well as a series of secret rooms such as Willy Wonka’s office with the secret door and the television room.
The set includes nine minifigures, including Willy Wonka, Charlie Bucket, Grandpa Joe and the five Golden Ticket winning children: Augustus Gloop, Mike Teavee, Veruca Salt, Violet Beauregarde and two Oompa Loompas. Each character can be placed in different areas of the set to bring the film’s most memorable scenes to life and recreate endless possibilities for play or display.
Ceruti and Padulano took care of the design down to the smallest details, collaborating with the LEGO team to balance faithfulness to the film and functionality of the pieces. Their approach has created a project suitable for both adult collectors and young builders. All this has made the LEGO® Willy Wonka set much more than a model: it is an immersive experience in the fantastic world of the Chocolate Factory.
