The “wind phone” also arrives in Spoleto to talk to those who are no longer there

The idea is inspired by a concept born in Japanwhere the first wind phone was installed in 2010 in the city of Otsuchi by Itaru Sasaki, a man who was looking for a way to feel still close to the deceased cousin. Since then, this initiative has spread to various parts of the worldbecoming a symbol of introspection and memory.

The initiative combines experiential tourism and inner reflection, offering visitors the possibility of find a moment of peace and contact with their memories. The creator of the project, Stefano Andreini, president of the Amen Foundation, said he was inspired by a personal experience lived in childhood:

When I was ten, my grandfather died suddenly. I felt the need to tell him something, but I didn’t know how. So I wrote letters and burned them, imagining that somehow they came to him. When I discovered the existence of the wind phone, that child came back to me and I wanted to bring this experience to Spoleto.
