Six hours after the start of the serious blackout that hit Spain, Red Eléctric has announced the partial restoration of electricity in different regions of the country. Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez confirmed that this gradual recovery was possible thanks to the collaboration with France and Morocco.
According to what was communicated by the public service company, electricity has been restored in some areas of Catalonia, Aragon, Basque Country, Galicia, Asturie, Navarra, Castiglia and León, Estremadura and Andalusia. Red Eléctric also specified that it continues to work with the energy companies to restore the service in the remaining areas of the national territory.
During an official apparition shortly after 18:00, Premier Sánchez said: “The causes are still under study. It is better not to make speculation”.

Sánchez has announced that the central government will take on the management of the emergency in Andalusia, EstaDura and Madrid, responding to requests from these regions.
The exceptional and completely extraordinary interruption of current has also had repercussions in Portugal. According to the estimates provided at 14:47, the complete restoration will require from 6 to 10 hours, suggesting that the situation will not be resolved before the evening.
The Blackout caused the total suspension of railway traffic, with the Ministry of Transport which has already communicated that the resumption of the service of the average and long distance on Monday is not expected. Urban public transport have also undergone serious disservices.
The situation caused significant inconvenience to the population, with long queues in supermarkets, where only cash payments are accepted, and numerous interventions to free people who were stuck in the elevators.
