In Milan, the2024 edition of the Panettone World Cupwhich welcomed the delicacies of master pastry chefs from all over the world. This event has now established itself as a great point of reference for celebrating the excellence of panettone, the undisputed symbol of the Italian confectionery tradition but also increasingly appreciated on a global level.
This year’s event recorded an extraordinary participation of both pastry chefs and the public, with numerous registration requests which forced the organizers to close registration earlier than expected. The competition involved finalists from Europe, Asia, Latin America, the United States and Australia, giving life to a truly international celebration of panettone.
Two categories in particular were awarded: traditional panettone and chocolate panettonebut many other special awards have been given to celebrate industry excellence and innovation.
The winners were chosen by two international juries made up of world-renowned professionals, including Iginio Massari (Italy), Julien Alvarez (France), Bruno Buletti (Switzerland), and Ernst Knam (Italy), just to name a few. The judging criteria included the appearance, aroma and taste of the panettone, evaluated with the utmost rigor and under the supervision of a notary.

The title of best traditional panettone he went – surprisingly – not to Italy. The award-winning dessert is from Ton Cortés, Spanish master pastry chefWhile second and third place were conquered by Italians Pasquale Pesce and Maurizio Sarioli.
