These are the most beautiful books and illustrated books to give to children at Christmas

Giving a book to a child or young person means much more than handing over an object: it is offering a new world, a suspended time, a safe space in which to train the gaze, recognize emotions, ignite imagination and courage.

Stories become growth companions, tools to understand what surrounds us and, sometimes, to give a name to what we feel inside. For this reason, choosing books to put in the hands of the youngest is a precious act, a gesture that lasts.

For them too, we have thought of a selection of titles to place under the Tree.

Making figures – by Pia Valentinis – Topipittori

With this book, Pia Valentinis opens the doors of its own way of working, offering boys and girls and young aspiring illustrators a real journey into the creative process. Not just technique: Valentinis shows how illustration arises first of all from a certain way of looking at the world.

There are essential steps along the way: training your eyes and hands, accepting stumbles, going back, not discarding your first intuitions and moving in that suspended moment in which everything is possible and the direction is not yet clear. A book that is both a guide, a laboratory and an invitation to cultivate one’s gaze. Recommended for ages 7 and up.
