The frozen burgers they could contain dangerous germs, as emerges from a new test conducted by K-Tipp. Not surprisingly, the Swiss consumers magazine holds its results “These frozen burgers can get sick“.
In fact, the analysis highlighted a worrying aspect: All the trusted frozen burgers samples contained antibiotic resistant germs. In addition, one in three was contaminated with pathogenic bacteria or had even gone badly.
The results, obtained from an independent laboratory, show that consuming frozen hamburgers without due attention to cooking and hygiene practices can represent a serious health risk.
The test
In the test, they were examined 12 different frozen beef burgersIn this case, we are not interested in the brands as they are above all typical references of the Swiss market (even if there is a Findus product), most of which contains local meat.
The experts analyzed the samples to detect the presence of antibiotic resistant bacteria, pathogenic bacteria, fecal germs, bacteria responsible for deterioration and industrial toxins such as PFAS compounds. In addition, the quality of the meat has been assessed, distinguishing between muscle meat, connective tissues and fat.
The results, as we already announced, are alarming: all the hamburgers were contaminated by germs. Among the bacteria found, there is the MRSA (Staphylococcus resistant to antibiotics)a bacterium that can cause serious infections if it enters the body through wounds or mucous membranes.
Another bacterium found in some champions is Ehec, a faecal germ that can cause serious diseases, especially in children and older people. The analyzed hamburgers also contained Enterobacteria and Pseudomonas, pathogenic agents that can cause urinary tract infections or pneumonia in people with weakened immune system.
In addition, they were found Pfas chemical compounds in some products. These can accumulate in the human body, compromising liver function, influencing the immune system and increasing the risk of cardiovascular diseases and liver cancer.
Another thing that emerges from the test is that a beef hamburger is not done with the meat of a single animal. Reads the magazine:
It can contain meat of over 100 cattle. They confirmed it to K-Tipp both Coop (Swiss, editor’s note) and the meat producer Bell. Findus also says that his hamburgers are made with meat from 200-300 animals.
In the following infographics you can see all the products analyzed, including Farmburger Findus, considered “insufficient”.

How the test was conducted
The Kiel Planton GmbH workshop he examined the 12 frozen burgers on behalf of K-Tipp. The technicians tested the amount of muscle meat, connective and fat fabrics in the hamburgers to evaluate their quality.
In addition, microbiological tests were carried out to detect the presence:
The test of K-Tipp clearly shows that Consumers must pay close attention to cooking and manipulating frozen hamburgers.
And in Italy?
since only a similar test could reveal it.
Actually, in 2022 the life jacket He conducted an analysis on the frozen hamburgers sold in our country, discovering that these products are not always of highest quality, there is little meat and many additives or other ingredients. In some cases then (albeit rare) they sin of hygiene.
