The waste of cold water it is a critical issue in many industrialized countries, including ours. According to recent research, for every five liters of water used, one is wasted. One of the moments of greatest waste occurs when you wait for theshower water becomes hotletting it slide uselessly in the meantime.
To solve this problem, two French electronic engineers, Olivier Alconchel and Bernard Thirion of Nontron, have created theAquaReturn. This device, produced and patented in Spain, allows you to avoid wasting cold water thanks to a mechanism recirculation which guarantees that the water comes out of the tap only when it has reached the desired temperature, thus saving 10,000 liters per year for each tap, corresponding to approximately €45 savings.
Simple technology and energy saving
THE’AquaReturn it connects directly to the domestic water circuit. Once the tap is turned on, the device checks the temperature of the water: if it is still cold, it redirects it to the tank or boiler, avoiding unnecessary waste. This system continues until the water reaches the 35°Ctemperature at which the flow is restored. The advantage is not only the water savingbut also a lower energy consumptionas it reduces the activation of the boiler. In fact, the consumption of the AquaReturn is only 2 kWh per year.
The device is compatible with any type of system, whether it is electric water heatersgas or solar. Although the manufacturer recommends the intervention of a professional, the AquaReturn can be installed independently if you have good manual skills, thus avoiding the possibility of generating leaks. This invention is patented now available on Amazon at the price of 305 euros.
