The boundaries between collectible modeling and extreme automotive engineering have suddenly blurred on the legendary asphalt of the Goodwood uphill circuit. In fact, to celebrate the commercial launch of the new Technic Koenigsegg Sadair’s Spear set, the LEGO Group has created an extraordinary 1:1 scale replica, perfectly running, of the famous Swedish hypercar.
Official test driver Markus Lundh drove the vehicle on the Goodwood Festival of Speed circuit, pushing the vehicle up to a speed of 111 km/h. This performance shattered the previous world speed record for an architecture built in plastic, which had remained at just 50 km/h, demonstrating the extraordinary structural evolution of the line of components included in the project.

The numbers of the development led by Lubor Zelinka and Kasper Rene Hansen
The genesis of this special car required an unprecedented logistical and design effort. Under the creative direction of design lead Lubor Zelinka, a team of specialized builders invested 9,400 hours of work spread over a period of seven and a half months, assembling precisely 327,906 elements.
Senior model designer Kasper Rene Hansen coordinated the structural development to ensure the car faithfully reproduced the appearance of the real car. The overall weight of the car stands at 1,800 kilograms, of which approximately 400 kilos are made up exclusively of the bricks, mounted on a special metal frame equipped with a roll-cage with FIA specifications, real suspensions and carbon wheels supplied directly by the Swedish team.
Ghost Mode technology and the exclusive commercial set for collectors
The real challenge for the developers was the integration of the automation systems that characterize the luxury production supercar. Through the use of a shaped key, the car activates the famous Ghost Mode system, which allows the automated and power-assisted opening of the body panels and doors. Unlike the road car, the propulsive thrust is guaranteed by a small electric motor, capable of delivering the power necessary for the record.
This synergy is reflected on the market in the 1:8 scale commercial set, which will be on sale starting from July 4th at the price of 449 euros, which includes the reproduction of the V8 engine with moving pistons, the Triplex suspensions and a replica of the 9-speed Light Speed Transmission gearbox with rotary selector.
