In a year marked by continuous increases and a cost of living that weighs on family budgets, choosing the store that best suits your needs can make the difference, so make room for the new ranking signed by Konsumer Italia in which we will discover where you can do your shopping while saving money. Based on recent market surveys and internal operational assessments, here are three savings-focused rankings dedicated to discounters, traditional supermarkets and hypermarkets.
In first place Eurospin is leading the race to save
In the discount panorama, where price represents the main variable, the primacy of chains specialized in pure savings is confirmed. Eurospin takes first place as the most convenient brand according to 2025 data, followed by Aldi with an index very close to the leader. Lidl maintains a strong position thanks to the quality-price ratio, while In’s Mercato and MD complete the top five, both growing nationwide.
Here is the complete ranking:
- Eurospin — the most convenient chain overall according to 2025 data.
- Aldi
- Lidl
- In’s Market
- MD Discount
Even in the Altroconsumo ranking in September it clearly emerged that, on the discount front, the savings were anything but theoretical. Eurospin had also confirmed itself as the cheapest brand on the market there, with a potential spending cut of up to 3,700 euros per year for a family, equal to almost 40% less than the national average.
The analysis, conducted between 3 and 31 March 2025 on 1,150 stores in 67 cities and based on approximately 1.6 million price observations, shows how Aldi, In’s Mercato and Lidl are also positioned close to the leader. Thanks to the use of a convenience index that assigns the value 100 to the cheapest brand, it was possible to immediately highlight the difference between a generic expense and a truly optimized one: choosing the right point of sale can concretely translate into thousands of euros saved every year.
The most convenient traditional supermarkets
For those who prefer a more structured shopping experience, with a wide assortment and recognizable brands, traditional supermarkets represent an effective compromise between convenience and variety. In this segment, Famila Superstore stands out for the best quality-price ratio, while Coop and Conad confirm themselves as highly competitive, maintaining solid positions thanks to their reliability and diffusion across the territory. Pam and Carrefour also continue to represent valid alternatives for those aiming for diversified spending, capable of combining savings and choice.
Hypermarkets: large spaces and complete assortments
For those who prefer to concentrate all their purchases in a single stop, hypermarkets continue to represent a reference format. In this segment, Ipercoop ranks first thanks to an effective balance between convenience and breadth of assortment. Bennet, particularly rooted in Northern Italy, and the large Carrefour structures confirm themselves as solid alternatives, offering variety and different possibilities of choice for consumers looking for a complete and competitive point of sale.
How to interpret the 2025 rankings
The differences between the various distribution formats remain evident: discount stores guarantee maximum convenience, traditional supermarkets offer a richer balance, while hypermarkets focus on a breadth of assortment and high volumes.
Convenience exists in every category, although it requires careful selection of the point of sale based on your purchasing habits. In an economic context that pushes for greater attention, knowing the most convenient signs helps make daily spending more sustainable.
