This is the only resort in the world located inside a naturalistic park and is located in Sardinia

In the heart of Ogliastra, one of the five blue areas of the planet where longevity is at home, an accommodation structure arises that redefined the very concept of sustainable hospitality. The Arbatax Park Resort & Spa extends over a peninsula of over 60 hectares, surrounded by the crystal clear waters of the Mediterranean, but its uniqueness goes far beyond the privileged position.

A world record in sustainability

From 2019 to 2024, this Sardinian resort has conquered the title of “Best Eco Resort in the world”a recognition that certifies not only the excellence of reception but above all the concrete commitment towards environmental protection. In 2024 three other prestigious international awards were added: Italy’s Leading Eco Resort, Europe’s Leading Eco Resort and World’s Leading Resort Sensory Gardens at the World Travel Awards, the Oscars of world tourism.

Arbatax Park is the only resort in the world located within a naturalistic park, the Bellavista Naturalistic Parka protected area where the typical flora and fauna of Sardinia live in total freedom. Guests can stroll through paths immersed in the Mediterranean vegetation, meet native animals and admire breathtaking views of the sea, experiencing a total dive experience in uncontaminated nature.

The vision of Giorgio and Angela Mazzella

The history of the Arbatax Park Resort was born in 2010 from the forward -looking vision of the entrepreneurs Giorgio and Angela Mazzella. After the economic crisis of 2009 and the failure of the mass -a -crop tourist model of traditional villages, the couple transformed three existing structures into a innovative eco resortanticipating the trends of sustainable tourism by over a decade.

The project was born from the desire to share the passion for plants, animals, local traditions and unconditional love for the Sardinian land. The vision was clear from the beginning: to create an authentic place where every guest could live the truest Sardinia, while inspired an approach that respects the environment.

An self -sufficient ecosystem

Inside the Resort there are seven different types of hotels, from the Borgo Cala Moresca to the suite of the sea, from the villas of the Park to the Cottage, distributed over 500,000 square meters of unspoiled nature. The park houses over 500,000 plants and 500 animals typical of Sardinian fauna, all selected through careful research of native species.

Among the animals that live free in the park, the mouflone, the ancient Sardinian sheep, the Giara horse, the white donkey of Asinara, the Sardinian wild boar, the wild goats and numerous species of birds typical of the island stand out. The vegetation is made up exclusively of species characteristic of the Mediterranean scrub: corbezzoli, junipri, holm oaks, lentisses and cork oaks. 5,000 new plants are placed every year.

All good practices: from compost to the thermodynamic solar system

The resort has adopted a circular economy model that transforms each waste into a resource. The branches of pruning, the leaves and organic materials are transformed into compost through a process that produces up to 500 cubic meters of humus every five years.

Dry branches become poles for the fence or wood for ovens, while the trunks are transformed into furnishings for the rooms.
Electricity is largely produced by renewable sources, with a 100kwh photovoltaic system that generates clean energy on site.

The domestic hot water is self -produced using a solar thermal system and a thermodynamic, based on a technology patented by a young Sardinian.

The lighting is entrusted to class A and A+energy saving lamps, with photoelectric cells and presence sensors in the environments that need permanent lighting. The rainwater are collected in an old granite quarry and in the natural lakes for the irrigation of vegetable gardens, meadows and gardens.

Sustainable mobility and well -being

Guests can move inside the resort using electric vehicles, rental bicycles or “Boboi” characteristic, open and panoramic means that allow you to explore the peninsula without sacrificing contact with nature. The 5,000 meters of walks reported invite you to discover the park on foot, following panoramic routes that cross the entire protected area.
The four equipped beaches – Le Palme, Arenas, Cala Moresca and Baia dei Cottage – complete the offer for those looking for the perfect balance between nature, well -being and sustainability.

A model for the future

The Arbatax Park Resort represents much more than one accommodation structure: it is the concrete demonstration that a tourism that is respectful of the environment is not only possible, but it can also reach levels of excellence recognized worldwide. In an era in which sustainability has become an essential necessity, this Sardinian resort indicates the way for a future in which hospitality and environmental protection proceed hand in hand.

As Fabrizio De AndrĂ© wrote, “life in Sardinia is perhaps the best that a man can wish himself”. The Arbatax Park Resort has transformed this poetic intuition into a concrete entrepreneurial project, showing that the paradise imagined by the Genoese singer -songwriter can become reality when vision is combined with respect for nature.
