This solar car from endurance on the dunes of the American desert exceeds hydrogen prototypes great

In the Mojave desert, under an relentless sun and among the dunes beaten by the wind, a prototype silently made history. It is theSolar car of Apiteraa vehicle that is neither traditional nor hydrogen, but powered directly by the energy of the sun. And not only does it work: has exceeded any expectation in terms of efficiencycompleting a road test that has also left the experts in the sector openly.

A very light, silent and super efficient vehicle

During the tests held in February 2025, the prototype showed something never seen before: It takes more than 3 minutes to slow down from 100 to 0 km/h even uphill. It may seem like a defect, but in reality it is the key signal of an extremely low air and rolling resistance, that is, of a record aerodynamic efficiency.

The founder Steve Fambro has proudly declared that the tests are confirming computer simulations: The objective of energy consumption is just 100 WH/Mileless than half compared to the most efficient electric cars on the market today.

And that’s not all: Thanks to the photovoltaic panels integrated on the bodywork, Aprara can travel up to 64 km per day only with sunlightwithout ever connecting to a power outlet. In summer, for those who make short or live routes in very sunny regions, it means guide for free, every day.

On June 27, 2025, Aprara presented the public on the public First pre-production modelcomplete with interiors, air conditioning and infotainment system. A vehicle almost ready for the assembly line, but which now faces one last phase: A long road trip through the United States To test autonomy, efficiency and solar charging in real conditions.

The next step is to start production in 2026 And start deliveries between 2027 and 2028. But to do it, the company has yet to collect about 60 million dollarsnecessary to establish an industrial production line.

Behind this wonder of engineering there is a meticulous study: Aprara has collaborated with Pininfarina and used Italian wind galleries to refine the design. The result? A three -wheeled car with a 0.13 – aerodynamic resistance coefficient – lower than any car on the market.

The weight, then, is another ace on the sleeve: about 820 kghalf of a normal electric car. It is built in light composite materials, resistant and designed to reduce consumption to a minimum. All this makes it perfect for those who want sustainable mobility without compromise, despite a design decidedly out of the box.

Beyond electric and hydrogen

In a sector dominated by electric cars and, more recently, from hydrogen prototypes, Aprara proposes one third way. A solar, autonomous, silent and potentially free road. Not for everyone, of course: its use is more suitable for sunny regions and for medium-long paths. But the message is clear: The mobility of the future does not have only one shape.

As other realities also show, such as Windship Technologywhich is developing ships driven by wind and solar panels, Innovation in sustainable mobility does not stop for electricity. A new way of traveling is being born, designed to reduce the environmental impact without giving up freedom.
