Imagine that you will come across a photo of yours in underwear or taken in a private context and to find out that it is to spread it was your partner, without your knowledge. Terrifying, right? This is exactly what many men do on a public Facebook group called “My wife”, where intimate images of women are loaded, in most cases without any consent. And it is not a group that counts a hundred members, but well over 30 thousand subscribers, which often hide behind the shield of anonymity.

To detonate the bomb in the past few hours, attracting attention to the serious story, the writer and screenwriter Carolina Capria, on her social profile “A female wrote it”.
“Yesterday I was reported the existence of a Facebook group of 32 thousand people in whom the members exchange intimate photos of their wives to comment on their aspect explicitly and give voice to their sexual fantasies – he said – women often unaware of being photographed to become a prey of a virtual rape. Most of the men do not consider consent something essential, something fundamental to the relationship and we add a passage here Very important: often to excite male sexuality it is precisely the lack of consent and the idea that a woman can be possessed against her will “.

As soon as they learned of the matter, to see with my own eyes to what extent these men had pushed I decided to take a ride on the Facebook group, witnessing something that left me raised. I came across the photo (many published in anonymity) of women in lingerie, taken while sleeping, images of women sowing in a moment of relaxation on the sofa, deep necklines, intimate parts that can be glimpsed from a bikini.
And those stolen shots, however, are only the tip of a big iceberg. The comments under each post make the skin crawl.
“What would you do to my wife?”, “Ready for the mountains”, “Superslurp”, “Perfect posture for a nice sturatina”, “Send more photos in private”: these are just some of the phrases I came across. And from the exchanges on the group it is clear that other private chats exist on Telegram where these users act undisturbing by sending photos and probably private videos of women and organize sexual icons.
When the women’s body becomes a trophy (without their knowledge)
After the reporting by Carolina Capria and the dissemination of the news by the newspapers, a series of disdain comments and denunciation against users appeared on the group.
“A woman is not a trophy: she has rights and dignity. If you walk them, you are not playing, you are preparing the price you pay. ‘Anonymous account’? It does not save you: the postal police see everything … and your wife could open that letter – without photos, only your responsibility” writes someone.
Even in the face of the report made to the postal police, several users continue to underestimate the seriousness of the situation and to give “moralists” and the “Nazifeminists” to the people who have launched against this massacre, who is not a simple goliardic act, but a crime (in Italy for the non-consensual diffusion of intimate images are risking up to six years in prison, as required by article 612-ter).
This is precisely the root of the problem: the male excitement fueled by the abuse and the idea of being able to use the female body as you want. Disseminating intimate images of women, without having their consent, is not a pastime. And no, dear men, the “make them two laughs and” how heavy you are “they no longer hold up. We can no longer let the culture of rape continues to spread like a virus, without anyone stopping it.
Because virtual rape is only a piece of the same culture that led to shocking cases such as that of Gisèle Pelicot, the French woman drugged for years by her husband and meal to men who raped her while she was unconscious. A story that is a symptom of the total contempt for the female will, which reduces women to the object of consumption, to toy with which to have fun.
Consent and respect are not negotiable; They are essential. And where there are no violence.
