Tim, Fastweb and WindTre increase tariffs: all the expected increases (and how to defend your rights)

According to what was found by Altroconsumo, in the first months of 2026 three of the main Italian operators – Fastweb, Tim and WindTre – initiated unilateral changes to the economic conditions of some fixed and mobile telephony offers. The interventions involve an increase in monthly fees for some of the already active users, with different methods depending on the operator and the type of contract.

The remodulations are legitimate from a regulatory point of view, provided that precise communication obligations are respected and that the right of withdrawal without costs is guaranteed. The report also clarifies which tools can help consumers limit the impact of the increases.

Fastweb: increases in landline prices starting from February

As regards Fastweb, a new unilateral change to some fixed network offers is expected from 1 February 2026. The customers involved will see the monthly fee increase by an amount between 1 and 3 euros, based on the subscribed tariff.

The operator specified that the discounts already applied will remain valid. Communications relating to increases are sent via invoice and also made available in the MyFastweb customer area.

Tim: increases on mobile and landline during 2026

Tim has announced changes that affect both mobile telephony and the fixed network.

For rechargeable SIMs, starting from 14 February 2026 some customers will suffer a monthly increase of between 1.99 and 2.99 euros. The notice was sent via SMS starting from 12 January 2026. Those who are included in the remodulation can avoid the increase by activating, by 31 January 2026, a dedicated alternative offer with the same cost and broader contents. Alternatively, Tim offers additional options such as 50 Giga extra or access to 5G Ultra.

On the fixed network front, from 1 February 2026 the monthly fee will increase by 2.99 or 5 euros, depending on the active offer. In this case, the information was included in the December 2025 invoice.

Tim justifies the increases with economic needs and the need to support infrastructure investments. In both scenarios the right of withdrawal without penalties remains valid, according to the deadlines indicated by the operator.

WindTre: price increases from March and new mobile remodulations

WindTre will apply an increase in the monthly fee of up to 2 euros starting from 1 March 2026, with differentiated amounts based on the type of contract. Interested customers received communication through the December 2025 Telephone Account, while the official details can be consulted in the “WindTre Informa” section.

The operator links the change to a strategy of repositioning the offering and the need to maintain service levels adequate to the evolution of the market. Since there is no public list of the offers involved, each customer must verify their situation based on the communication received.

Anyone who does not intend to accept the new conditions can withdraw without costs or change operator by 28 February 2026, using the channels made available by WindTre. The report also indicates a remodulation of some mobile telephony offers already active from 10 January 2026.

What the legislation provides: rights and alternatives for customers

In the event of a unilateral change, the customer is not obliged to accept the increase, but neither can he continue to benefit from the old conditions. Two possible alternatives:

  1. Choose a different offer from the same operator.
  2. Withdraw from the contract and switch to another provider, keeping the number through portability.

The law requires the operator to inform the customer of the right of withdrawal with a maximum notice of 30 days, withdrawal which must take place without deactivation costs or penalties. If the contract provided for discounts bound over time, the operator cannot request the return of the benefits already enjoyed when the customer decides to withdraw due to the remodulation. In the absence of withdrawal, the contract automatically continues under the new conditions from the date indicated.

How to save: comparison of offers according to Altroconsumo

For those considering a change in tariff or operator, Altroconsumo recommends comparing the offers available on the market. Through its online comparator dedicated to mobile tariffs, the association indicates the most convenient solutions based on real usage needs, offering a practical tool to contain spending.

Withdrawal: methods and aspects to remember

The withdrawal methods must be clearly indicated by the operator and cannot be more complex than those used for signing the contract. If the activation took place through a simple call, the withdrawal must also be able to be exercised with equally accessible procedures.

Written and traceable communication is highly advisable to demonstrate compliance with deadlines. At the time of withdrawal it is appropriate to specify that the decision depends on the unilateral modification. Those who purchased devices in installments linked to the offer will have to continue paying the scheduled installments or pay the remaining amount in a single payment.

When and how to contest increases

Increases can be contested if the operator has not respected some fundamental rules. The cases reported by Altroconsumo include the following:

In these situations it is possible to present a formal complaint, preferably in writing, requesting the restoration of the previous conditions or the reimbursement of the sums paid in addition.

If the complaint does not receive a response within 45 days or receives a negative outcome, the consumer can start a conciliation procedure via Co.re.com, Agcom, the ConciliaWeb platform or with the support of Altroconsumo itself.
