At 9 am today, Wednesday 18 February 2026, the click day officially opens for the hiring of domestic workers, carers, babysitters and other family care workers as part of the Flows 2026 decree. A decisive window for thousands of families waiting for the green light to regularize or start a domestic work relationship.
The numbers explain the pressure: 13,600 quotas dedicated to family care work are expected this year, compared to almost 49 thousand applications already pre-filled. Places will be assigned in chronological order of submission, making speed and precision in the online procedure crucial.
Who can apply
Private citizens and families who intend to hire a worker from countries with which Italy has signed bilateral migration agreements, including Albania, Egypt, Morocco and Pakistan, can participate.
An essential condition is to have already pre-compiled the application in the period between 23 October and 7 December 2025. Without this preliminary step it is not possible to access the sending phase. The Flows 2026 decree provides for a total of 164,850 entries including seasonal, non-seasonal and self-employed work, but for the domestic sector the quota remains limited.
How sending on the Ali portal works
The procedure takes place exclusively online through the Ali portal of the Ministry of the Interior which can be reached at this link. Access takes place with Spid or electronic identity card. Once you have entered the area dedicated to the One Stop Shop for Immigration, you must select the section “Fill in Applications for the Flow Decree 2026/Click-day 2026”, where the request already uploaded in recent months appears.
At 9 am sharp it is necessary to refresh the page using the internal button of the site and not that of the browser. Only in this way will the “Send questions” button be activated. After sending, you must wait for confirmation of successful transmission. It is not recommended to connect with the same credentials from multiple devices, to avoid system crashes.
Quotas, non-quotas and next years
Although sending is technically possible until 8 pm, the logic remains that of a race against time: the first 13,600 valid shipments will obtain authorization. For 2027 the quotas will rise to 14 thousand and to 14,200 in 2028. There is also a non-quota procedure, up to 10 thousand entries per year in the three-year period 2026-2028, reserved for particular situations such as assistance to over 80s, people with disabilities or children under six years of age. In these cases the application can be submitted at any time, without waiting for click day.
