The next June 11 will shine the Strawberry moonthe last full moon of spring, at the gates ofsummer. It will not be a superluna, nor a micruluna, but the full moon is always a wonderful show, which reminds us of the beauty of the firmament.

How and when to see the moon of the strawberries
As reported Moongiantthe moon was technically full on 11 June at 9.44 Italian time. Obviously the sun was already high in the sky, therefore, to enjoy the show, we will have to wait for the dark sky and that our satellite is high on the horizon (on the map the Heaven of 11 June 2025 at about 23.00).

The name of this full moon, as often happens, derives from the American tradition. In fact, this pleenilunio marked the beginning of the strawberry collection season in North America, hence the reference to this typical fruit of the season in the northern hemisphere.

But other names were given to the full moon: in Europe, for example, it was the Honeymoonbut also Hot moonor Hay moon. In particular the Honeymoonwith which we still refer to the honeymoonrecalls the hydromele, an alcoholic drink produced by the fermentation of honey and sipped since the Neolithic but of which we also find traces in ancient Egypt.
In fact, in many regions of Europe, the newly married couples was traditionally given a sufficient amount of hydromele to the consumption of an entire month. In this way, it was believed that this drink would help in the procreation.
And, given that in remote the time was not marked by the current Gregorian calendar but by the lunar phases, we referred to the ‘honeymoon’ as to the period of time when the couple would sip the drink to procreate.
