Valentine’s Day at Lidl: more than 50 themed products, from biscuits to sushi (all heart-shaped)

Whether we celebrate it or not, Valentine’s Day has now become an opportunity for many to treat themselves to something special at the table, perhaps without spending a fortune. Lidl knows this well, and every year responds with a dedicated assortment which – let’s face it – has a certain charm in its abundance.

This year the offer is particularly wide: over 50 themed references, available in stores throughout the week until February 15th. Some are already finished, as often happens with the German chain’s limited-time offerings.

Lidl products for Valentine’s Day

The sweets department is probably the one that attracts the most attention. You can find For You heart-shaped Macarons (6 pieces of 15 g, €3.49), ready-made Red Velvet Pancakes for only €1.99 for 220 g, and Cupcakes with little hearts, as well as heart-shaped biscuits in various flavours.

However, the fridge/frozen food section turns out to be the real surprise: from blueberry mochi to chocolate soufflés filled with strawberry and blueberry, up to panzerottini hearts with hazelnut cream and even heart-shaped chicken nuggets.

Perhaps the most unexpected aspect of the selection is how it extends to the fresh department and savory products. Among the proposals there are Grana Padano Hearts, heart-shaped Tomini and also a heart-shaped red pasta.

There is no shortage of heart-shaped pizzas (9 pieces, €1.49), Sushi enclosed in a heart-shaped box (440g €6.99) and potato hearts (like gnocchi), a very long list where it is difficult not to find at least one thing that makes you want to try it.

There are also rose-shaped ice cream cones, a scenographic find that also works well as a last minute gift idea. Also worth mentioning is the roll placemat with Valentine’s Day decorations, for those who also want to take care of the table setting without spending a lot.

The objects, although smaller, offer heart-shaped silicone molds starting from 2.99 euros for cooking and sweets enthusiasts, together with other items decorated with roses, also in a teddy bear version. The offer is completed by a good assortment of flowers and plants.

The Lidl formula is always the same: themed products, limited availability, low prices. Not all products are exceptional in terms of quality, and some thematic choices make you smile more than amaze. But the combination of novelty, curiosity and affordability works and every year many find themselves wandering around the store just to see “what’s there this time”.

More than the celebration of love, however, it now seems like a celebration of themed packaging. But as long as the price remains affordable, the game continues to work.
