Violent storm in Romagna: strong thunderstorms, flooded roads and fallen trees

During the night, Emilia-Romagna was hit by a powerful storm, with intense rain and strong gusts of wind over 100 km/h, which devastated in particular the provinces of Rimini, Ravenna e Forlì-Cesena.

From 3 in the morning the firefighters, as reported on X, are engaged on the Romagna coast to help people in difficulty in flooded underpass and remove trees and billboards that fell to the ground. According to the first estimates reported by “Emilia Romagna Weather” – sFrom 250 to 300 the trees demolished by the thunderstorm would have tonight between Milano Marittima and Cervia-. Fugs of gas have also been reported, but fortunately at the moment they are not injured.

In the Rimini, 23 people were evacuated by a train blocked on the Rimini-Ravenna line due to a plant fallen on the tracks. In the meantime, the railway line between Rimini and Igea Marina has been suspended.

In the last 12 hours, the firefighters have declared over 30 interventions in the province of Rimini, more than 20 in the Ravenna and 15 in the territory of Forlì Cesena were carried out.

The Municipality of Ravenna, on its FB page, specified that the yellow weather alert for thunderstorms, issued by the Regional Civil Protection Agency and by Arpae Emilia Romagna, was extended by midnight on Saturday 23 August at midnight on Sunday 24 August. And that also for today- strong thunderstorms are expected, with possible associated effects and damage, which in the early hours of the day will be more likely on the coastal band and during the afternoon on the Apennine band.
