Vivisection: the first map of the workshops without animal experimentation of South America was born

The first interactive map that identifies Latin American laboratories that use alternative methods to animal experimentation arrives.

A map – the first of its genre promoted by the TE Protejo organization – with which it will be possible to discover in a simple way where the research centers are located that adopt innovative techniques such as cellular crops, models of fabrics, computer simulations and other approaches capable of reducing – or completely eliminating – the use of animals in scientific studies.

These centers have managed to adapt cutting -edge models only with Latin American technologies and have decided to adopt a culture of care and technical responsibility – reads the note. This map is built starting from documentary research and direct contact with researchers, so that the community can explore which methods are available and which workshops develop them. Strengthening and making their work visible implies to advance towards a research contextualized in Latin American reality, which dialogues with our health and social priorities.

Because it is important

Well, because it can certainly be seen as a real document of the progress already made in the region, useful to encourage collaboration between laboratories and institutions, strengthen public policies and stimulate investments in more sustainable technologies.

It is a fundamental step to make visible and enhance the work of the workshops that are committed to a more ethical science, says a spokesman for Te Protejo.

The platform will be regularly updated with new centers and deepening materials, becoming a real point of reference for the spread of alternative research methods.

An initiative that demonstrates how the awareness that scientific innovation and respect for animals can (and must) go hand in hand is also growing in Latin America.
