WhatsApp launches the new list function (to organize chats): how they work and how to activate them

WhatsApp he threw one new feature called “Lists”which allows you to organize chats into custom categoriessimplifying the management of conversations. This novelty allows users to create a sort of “filters” for chatsmaking it easier to find important messages and keep your conversations screen tidy.

The lists work in a simple way: in the Chat section of the app, under the search bar, a series of appears clickable buttons representing the categories. WhatsApp initially provides a list called “All”, in which all conversations are visible.

However, by pressing the “+” icon Next to the buttons, you can create additional categories and give them a name. The user can decide, for example, to create lists called “Family”, “Friends” or “Work”, in which to group personal or group chats with family, friends or colleagues respectively. Once created, the lists work like filters: by tapping on the desired category, you will only see the conversations included in that list.

To get them, just update WhatsApp to the latest version

The lists are completely private and visible only to the user who creates them, with the possibility of modifying them at any time through the WhatsApp settings. This feature offers a new level of customization, in line with the recent update of the app which allows you to save contacts exclusively on WhatsApp, without necessarily having to add them to the phone book.

In future updates, WhatsApp plans to introduce additional tools, such as usernames, to make it easier to share your contact without having to provide your phone number. To achieve this functionality, just update WhatsApp to the latest version available on Play Store for Android or App Store for iPhone. However, as the release is gradual, some users may have to wait a few days before seeing the Active Lists.

The introduction of Lists was inspired by the positive feedback we received regarding chat filtersintroduced earlier this year to make it easier to quickly search for conversations. Building on that success, WhatsApp decided to expand the feature to create a more customizable and intuitive chat management experience.
