One anonymous once said that “three things have remained of paradise: the stars, the flowers and children”. If you are not even Dante Alighieri (who is often mistakenly attributed this sentence) and you have no opinions about stars and children, perhaps you could share the part on the flowers. And you would agree, we are sure, with an artist that the flowers decided to put them everywhere. Defined by the American periodical The New Yorker as the “Bansky dei Fiori”, his name is Lewis Miller, the Flora & Event Design is made and for some years he has been in the grip of real art attacks (Muciaccia docet), the so -called flowers flashes, artistic installations that have the flowers as protagonists, and with which the artist has fun filling the streets of New York.
The “Banksy of flowers”
As mentioned at the opening, Lewis Miller is a respected Flora & Event Designer during the day, engaged in the preparation of floral arrangements for the most exclusive events of the city of New York, while at night he turns into a street artist, in the grip of his now famous “Flower Flashes”.
Accompanied by his team and a van full of flowers, Lewis Miller acts with the favor of darkness, like a super hero, and in a few minutes he puts his art in the square, with which he transforms garbage bins, construction sites and city statues into real explosions of colors and perfumes. The installations disappear in a few hours, but Instagram makes them immortal.

With about 275 thousand followers, Miller defines his works as “Flower Flashes”: real shocks of natural beauty that embellish the most anonymous urban corners, from subway to garbage baskets, from telephone booths to the corners of the roads sometimes, the compositions are contained and delicate; Other times, overabundant, so as to overflow from their improvised containers.

Each month, a different corner of New York (and even London) is temporarily transformed into a hanging garden.
The floral art that brings closer
Unlike Banksy, Lewis Miller’s face is known and appreciated in the world of celebrities and advertising. He edited compositions for events such as Meghan Markle’s Baby Shower and for luxury brands such as Tiffany and Ralph Lauren. During the pandemic, he brought his Flower Flashes outside the hospitals to thank the health personnel and instill a little joy in a difficult period.
Miller is not just an artist: he is a community creator. Recently received the prestigious Amy Angel Collier Montague of the Garden Club of America for inspired civic pride through floral art. “A wonderful honor and a wonderful way to start the new year!” The artist enthusiastically commented.
A book to tell the magic
Do you want to admire his creations live? Buy the book! It’s called “Flower Flash”, and is on sale on Amazon. It is a visual diary that tells the background of his works and includes many spectacular photos, as well as fans’ contributions and some “moments of inspiration”
From the first floral flash around John Lennon’s memorial to Central Park, made in 2016, up to the most touching creations made during the pandemic, the book captures the joyful and subversive spirit of its flower flashes. An invitation to rediscover beauty in the most unexpected places.
