Why baking cookies for Santa and the Reindeer is more important than you think (it’s not just a tradition)

Today is Christmas Eve and, as tradition dictates, you need to be ready to prepare a snack for Santa Claus and his reindeer, a magical moment for all the children who are waiting to receive the gifts on that special night.

Not only do we parents love midnight snacks, Santa and his reindeer seem to appreciate a little snack as they work hard to bring presents to children around the world. This is why tradition dictates that you leave something to eat and drink that can refresh them during Christmas night.

But how best to prepare this special snack together with the children? What does Santa really appreciate and what should he leave for the reindeer instead?

What to prepare for Santa Claus and the reindeer

Santa Claus will have to stay awake and “work” all night in the cold, so he will certainly need something warm but also tasty and light to be able to continue his tour of the houses.

Nothing better therefore than a nice glass of hot milk or vegetable drink (probably even Santa Claus will have approached environmental issues in the meantime) and some biscuits.

The best would be to prepare them at home with the children, for example gingerbread men are excellent but any other recipe is fine, we suggest some in the following articles:

If you don’t have biscuits, Santa Claus will certainly appreciate a slice of pandoro or panettone and instead of milk you can opt for a nice hot chocolate.

You can arrange Santa’s snack near your tree on a tray or directly on a table, taking care to place a placemat underneath.

You absolutely must not forget the reindeer snack, after all they are the ones who make the biggest effort carrying the sleigh with the gifts. Then leave some water and some carrots or mandarins, they really deserved it.

In the morning, obviously, only the remnants of these things will remain. Santa Claus passed by and enjoyed the snack, sometimes it also happens that he leaves a thank you note or traces of his passage, such as a bit of dirt or a window left slightly open.

Finding out that Santa Claus liked what they prepared for him will surely fill the children with joy. The rest will be found in gifts under the tree!
