This scenic train connects Domodossola to Locarno, offering a unique and sustainable experience to reach some of the most fascinating Christmas markets in Italy and Switzerland.

Among the most unmissable destinations is Santa Maria Maggiore, a Piedmontese village known for its Christmas Market from 6 to 8 December 2025. The streets and squares come alive with over 200 exhibitors of local craftsmanship: wood, ceramics, wool and blown glass. The scent of cinnamon and mulled wine and Christmas melodies complete the atmosphere, making every walk among the stalls an authentic experience.

Domodossola between lights, craftsmanship and live music

On the second weekend of December, however, the historic center of Domodossola dresses up for the holidays. On Saturday 13th and Sunday 14th, the squares and streets of the Borgo della Cultura host exhibitors with gift ideas and typical products. In the centre, the Christmas tree becomes the meeting point for shows, concerts and activities dedicated to the little ones. The markets, active since 1997, combine tradition, architecture and local hospitality, giving visitors an authentic Christmas experience

And crossing into Switzerland, from 20 November 2025 to 6 January 2026, Locarno hosts Winterland, a Christmas village in Piazza Grande overlooking the lake. Among wooden houses, ice rinks and light displays, families can enjoy concerts and immersive installations.
