Very good Carla Pensa! At the age of 85, he won the eleventh edition of the Mortar Pesto World Championship, which took place yesterday 21 March in the Sala del Maggior Consiglio and Sala del Minor Consiglio in Genoa. The elderly woman defeated the almost 100 competitors who challenged each other during an entire day dedicated to the traditional and ancient recipe.
The 100 competitors, in particular, arrived at 8.30 in the morning, while the 30 judges arrived at 9.30. The awards ceremony for the Children’s Championship took place at 10.45, while the adult competition closed at 12.10. At that point the judges met to decide the 10 finalists, who are challenged again in the afternoon: just half an hour to prepare a portion of Pesto al Mortaio.
The winner, Carla Pensa, was announced at 4.30pm.
