A resort is not just a place to disconnect the plug: it can become a bridge between those traveling and the ecosystem that hosts it. This is the direction undertaken by Valtur, which this summer strengthens its environmental education program thanks to the partnership with the World Sustainability Foundation (WSF), an international organization engaged in the protection of biodiversity and in the promotion of responsible travel practices.
The initiative is part of the Valtur Discovery project, already active in some brand structures and designed to offer immersive experiences of naturalistic and astronomical dissemination. So far, the program has involved experts, guides and disseminates to accompany guests of all ages to discover the flora, fauna and night sky. Now, with the contribution of the WSF, the format is enriched with new contents and tools designed to stimulate curiosity and awareness.
“The knowledge and respect for the host ecosystem, combined with the promotion of responsible tourism practices, are the cornerstones of our vision,” said Giuseppe Pagliara, managing director of the Nicolaus group, to which Valtur belongs since 2018.
The approach is not only educational but also operational: in the groups of the group it is aimed at reducing waste, the elimination of disposable plastic, the use of renewable energies and the enhancement of local resources. It is not a question of “Greenwashing” of the facade, but of a system that integrates the host communities in the tourist proposal, encouraging guests to interact with the territory in an authentic and respectful way.
Distinctive element of this new phase are the two documents made available by the WSF:
Written in a simple and direct language, these materials are designed to involve both children and adults as much, transforming the holiday into a moment of light but incisive learning.
Practical workshops, stars observation sessions and exploration of the local environment complete the offer. The stated goal is twofold: on the one hand stimulating wonder and curiosity towards nature, on the other hand providing concrete tools to reduce the environmental impact even after returning home.
“Thanks to this new union of intent, the Valtur Discovery program takes on an even more strategic role in our commitment to tourism consistent with the ESG principles,” added Pagliara.
The message is clear: the tourism of the future cannot be limited to “visiting” places, but will have to learn to live the territories without consuming them. The collaboration between Valtur and WSF tries to translate this idea into a replicable format, where relaxation meets responsibility. An operation that, if it finds a response among travelers, could become a model for the entire sector.
