Green light to hunting in mountain passes, the protest takes place: “It is played with the life of animals”

With the approval of a controversial amendment to the Montagna bill, the Chamber has given green light to a measure that allows theHunting activity in mountain passes over 1000 meters of altitudeeven if interested in the migrations of the Aviphauna.

To sign it, the League player Francesco Bruzzone and, not to say, the reactions were immediate: environmental associations and opposition speak of a dangerous rule, which risks emptying existing protections.

What changes with the amendment

Currently, law 157/1992 expressly prohibits hunting in the passes used by migratory birds. The new amendment unhinges this principle, providing for the institution – by ministerial decree – of Special protection areas to replace the generalized ban. A net change of broken broken, which, according to many, risks becoming a legal escapade to legitimize hunting in areas so far off-limits.

The passes concerned are those above 1000 meters, excluding about 110 of the 475 overall mapped by the Lombardy Tar and the legislative modification would fight to another DDL on hunting, currently under discussion in the Senate, which provides similar measures.

It is yet another game of the three cards on the skin of animals. The prohibitions provided for by law 157 must remain in force, they say from the opposition, remembering that that rule is the subject of revision by the Minister of Agriculture Francesco Lollobrigida, who would like to further annex the constraints.

Associations: “A dereguulation disguised as management”

The main environmental realities – Lipu, Enpa, Wwf, Lav, Legambiente – also condemn the amendment without turns. In a joint note, they define the rule “A front attack on migratory“And accuse the proponents of Use the excuse of agricultural damage to justify a go -ahead for the braces in the most vulnerable points for birds in transit.

It is not fauna management – they say – it is a masked deregulation. We ask for the immediate excerpt of this shameful amendment: biodiversity cannot be given to those who want to destroy it with shotguns.

It is not just an environmental question. Italy is already under the infringement procedure for violations in terms of hunting and protection of biodiversity. “The European directives are clear – explain Evi and Prestipino – and do not include exceptions for corporate interests. If we continue on this path, they will pay citizens, with savory fines borne by taxpayers”.

From 2012 to today, Ben 23 of the 64 European infringement procedures Open against Italy concerned the environment. One of the most recent is linked to the use of lead ammunition in wetlandsstill too widespread despite the EU restrictions.
