The path of Montecastello di Tignale was born: an 8.5 km ring itinerary in the Alto Garda

A path of 8.5 km

The path of Montecastello di Tignale was inaugurated, a ring itinerary of about 8.5 km that connects places of historical, religious and agricultural interest in the area. The path partly retraces the ancient pilgrimage of the statue of the Madonna di Montecastello and crosses significant points such as the Sanctuary of Montecastello, the hermitage of San Giorgio in Varolo, the lemon grove of Prà de la Fam, the churches of San Rocco and San Pietro and the path of the workers towards Campione del Garda.

Technical data

The path of Montecastello presents a difference in height of about 870 meters, an average duration of 4 hours and an EE classification (hiking with sections for expert hikers).

The project “Tales from the territory”

The path was born within the “Tales from the territory” project, supported by the FESR 2021-2027 regional program of the Lombardy Region and the Innovacultura call. The initiative is promoted by the Municipality of Tignale with the collaboration of three realities: OROS, which took care of the collection and narrative of the materials, from, which deepened the historical roots of the territory, ISISMI, which has created digital reliefs, 3D models and virtual tours.

Community and next developments

The project includes “sweet” and intermodal tourism, with the involvement of restaurateurs, hoteliers, local shops and ecclesiastical realities. Future actions include the new information signs, the restoration of the votive chapels of the Rosary and the spread of the official logo of the path.

The route is already integrated into the Visit Tignale and Orobie Active apps, and is accompanied by the original Podcast Steps by Tignaleavailable from September 25 on Spreaker, Spotify and Amazon Music.
