The Aunt Caterina Foundation was born: from the iconic taxi to an entity that helps oncological patients and fragile people

Caterina Bellandi, known to everyone as Aunt Caterina, has transformed her energy and commitment into a structured project: the Aunt Caterina Foundation. What had started as an individual activity, made of taxi races, smiles and hugs, now becomes an organized body capable of offering concrete support to those who experience moments of difficulty, in particular oncological patients and fragile people.

Since 2001, Caterina has guided her colorful Milan 25 taxi, accompanying children and their families for free. In recent years, however, life has also reserved for her a personal challenge: Caterina has faced an autoimmune disease, which made her more tired and limited her taxi activity, reducing the long driving days of the past.

Despite everything, his enthusiasm and smile have never failed and now, with the birth of the Foundation, his action expands, involving institutions, volunteers and professionals ready to carry on his mission of solidarity and welcome.

The Tana dei Superheroi: a place of growth and listening

The Foundation strengthens and enhances the Tana dei Superheroi, based in via di Belmonte in Bagno a Ripoli, a place surrounded by greenery where children can find moments of play, workshops, events and readings. Thanks to the Foundation, La Tana becomes a reception and growth center, also open to the community, which combines concrete support and cultural initiatives.

The Authority provides for the opening of free branches for psychological, legal and social consultancy, collaborations with hospitals and qualified professionals, and the promotion of educational activities and workshops for children and teenagers, integrating PCto and initiatives with local schools.

Solidarity, culture and a collective commitment

The Foundation wants to be not only a support point, but also a vehicle of culture and awareness, with events open to the community, meetings with authors and creative workshops. President Caterina Bellandi continues to be the spark of the project, but now the energy of an extraordinary person becomes a collective commitment thanks to the Board of Directors of the Foundation, composed of Francesca Cisonna Ierardi (vice -president), Annalisa Parenti, Francesco Casini and Massimo Martini.

The Aunt Caterina Foundation is thus proposed to consolidate a structured solidarity model, capable of accompanying, listening and offering concrete opportunities to those who need it, transforming an individual gesture into a collective embrace.
