From 3 October 2025 to 26 April 2026, Cuneo hosts “Astrid Lindgren and the strength of the children: 80 years of Pippi Calzelunghe”, an exhibition dedicated to the famous Swedish writer on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the creation of Pippi Calzelunghe, one of the most iconic characters of literature for children.
The exhibition, promoted by CRC Innova and curated by the Cuadri Ets Cultural Association, pays homage to the creative genius of Astrid Lindgren (1907-2002), among the most translated authors in the world, which has revolutionized the fiction for children. The exhibition places the values that the author believed to be fundamental for the growth of the little ones at the center: love and reading.
Through an exhibition itinerary designed to involve young and old, the initiative invites to rediscover the magic of childhood and the power of the imagination. Pippi Calzelunghe, a rebellious and independent protagonist, rich and self -sufficient, still represents a metaphor for intellectual freedom and embodies universal values such as courage, generosity and justice.

The project was born from the collaboration with The Astrid Lindgren Company of Stockholm, who has granted the official license, and makes use of the scientific advice of Samanta K. Milton Knowles, an expert translator of Lindgren’s works. To enrich the exhibition, the didactic project “A walk with Pippi Longstocking”, aimed at the fourth and fifth classes of primary school, to promote reading as a tool for growth and imagination. There is also a calendar of collateral events open to the public.
The exhibition is made possible thanks to the contribution of the CRC Foundation and to the support of Generali Insurance Agency of Cuneo, Acta, Bottero and Square Tesi. Among the partners there are the embassy of Sweden in Rome, Adriano Salani Editore, Dea Planeta and Paper Play. Patrutas of the Piedmont Region, Province and Municipality of Cuneo and Department of Philosophy and Education Sciences of the University of Turin.
