The smartphones they are always with us and we use them every day for over 3.5 hours on average. It happens, therefore, that after months of intensive use, problems can begin to appear such as batteries that run out too quickly, screens that stop working for no apparent reason or general performance that drops. The question therefore arises spontaneously: which brands are most reliable and resistant over time?
To answer this question, the French magazine 60 Millions de Consumers interviewed over 1000 smartphone owners, comparing 10 brands. From the investigation they emerge 7 brands that stand out for greater reliability.
A ranking that reserves some surprises: starting from first place, occupied by a less renowned Chinese brand, while Samsung does not appear among the most reliable.
The 7 most reliable smartphone brands
Xiaomi – 94.1% of devices without failures
In first place we find Xiaomi, with 94.1% of devices that have never suffered failures. A surprising fact, considering that the brand does not have the same notoriety as Apple or Samsung. Xiaomi’s strength lies in its ability to produce millions of smartphones every year, acquiring notable skills in design and quality control. Users only complain about small ergonomic defects, but overall the devices prove to be extremely solid and resistant.
Oppo – 92.2%
Oppo follows, with 92.2% of smartphones without problems. The Chinese company focuses on durable materials and refined designs.
Honor – 91.8%
Honor takes third place with a score of 91.8%, thanks to good value for money devices, reliable batteries and high-quality screens. It is an interesting choice especially for those looking for a smartphone under 500 euros without giving up high performance.
OnePlus – 91.7%
OnePlus ranks immediately behind with 91.7%. Users appreciate the combination of high performance, fast processors and quality screens. Battery life is also considered good.
Motorola – 91.4%
With a score of 91.4%, Motorola remains solid, although some users criticize the ergonomics and battery life, which could be improved. Despite this, the devices are reliable and resistant over time.
Apple – 91%
Apple occupies sixth position with a score of 91%. iPhones are appreciated for their ease of use, stable software ecosystem and fluid navigation, but lose points for their battery life, considered insufficient by many users, and for their high price, often considered excessive compared to the quality of the materials.
Google (Pixels) – 84.3%
Google closes the ranking with 84.3% of smartphones without faults. Despite the low reliability score, Pixel devices are highly rated for their photo quality and software efficiency. Some users have reported components coming loose or overheating, but the photo performance and smart features continue to make them beloved devices.
How much does price affect reliability?
The investigation of 60 Millions de Consumers shows that the cost of a smartphone plays an important role in its durability. The cheapest models, under 100 euros, are the most fragile, with around 13% of devices suffering serious malfunctions.
In the price range between 100 and 500 euros, the failure rate drops to 7%, while between 500 and 699 euros only 5% of devices have problems. In other words, the higher the price, the more likely you are to find a solid and long-lasting smartphone, confirming that durability and robustness come at a cost.
