The December 7 we do not miss a splendid show, not very rare but always fascinating, the “kiss” Moon-Jupiter. The romantic conjunction – weather permitting – will be visible to the naked eye and this time surrounded by two swarms of shooting starsthe sigma Hydrids and the December monocerotides.
As the UAI explains, on the evening of December 7th the beautiful configuration that sees the Moon in the constellation of Gemini near the planet Jupiter and the stars Castor and Pollux is worth a look (in the map the sky of December 7, 2025 at approximately 10.00 pm).
But it doesn’t end here. In fact we are “in the midst of the maximum activity of the former meteors of the month, the sigma Hydridscharacterized by rapid and often bright meteors. But also the December monocerotideswhich sometimes showed short but spectacular outburst like those of 1995 and 2019. For both swarms, in fact, the peak was expected between 5 and 7 December.
If the weather is kind, the show will be even more spectacular considering that our satellite will have just passed its flood phase: on 4 December, in fact, we admired the Supermoon of the Long Nights).
