As the UAI explains, the Aurigids one of the most interesting swarms of the month. Active between the end of August and the first days of September, they will reach their maximum in the night between 1st and 2nd September, with an average frequency of around 6.

The radiant of these shooting stars, or the point from which they appear to start, is located in the constellation of Auriga from which they take their name. And it gets higher and higher on the horizon throughout the night (on the map the sky of September 2, 2026 at approximately 2.00 am).
The swarm generally produces very fast meteorsbut is known to have shown in the past sudden increases in activity. Observation could be penalized this year by the still bright Moon after the full moon at the end of August, which will make it difficult to detect the faintest meteors.
