Same farm, same batch, same expiration: the Ministry of Health had to publish four separate recall notices, given the variety of brands under which these eggs arrived on the shelves. The reason is the presence of Salmonella spp. on the shell, and concerns packages sold by Selex, Coop and Despar: those who have their own branded eggs from large retailers in their pantry would do well to check the code printed on the shell, not just the package label.
The recall: what’s in batch H10813
The provision, dated 10 September 2026 (published today 14 September) concerns the production batch H10813, with an expiry date of 27/9/2026. The eggs all come from the same factory: Società Agricola Fiorin di Lionello & C. SS, with headquarters in via Per Ferrara 24/B in Codigoro, in the province of Ferrara (identification code IT 03010, CE authorization C3Y0J). The reason indicated in each warning is identical and concerns the presence of Salmonella detected on the shell.
The Salmonella danger
Salmonella is among the most common causes of food poisoning in Italy and Europe, and in eggs it can nest both on the shell and, more rarely, inside. The symptoms are fever, abdominal cramps, diarrhea, sometimes vomiting, and usually appear between 12 and 72 hours after contact with the contaminated food and in most cases resolve on their own within a few days. Obviously the most fragile categories, such as young children, the elderly, pregnant women and anyone with a weakened immune system, are more exposed to complications.
Three brands, one breeding farm
What changes from one notice to another is only the commercial appearance. The first notice concerns Selex packs of 10 medium category A eggs, sold in cases of 96 pieces in the name of Selex SpA (Trezzano sul Naviglio, Milan).

The second always covers the Selex brand, same case of 96, but in the 6 egg format.

The third notice bears the signature of Coop Italia, which markets the same batch under the “Fattorie Natura” brand: packs of 6 eggs of various calibers, minimum net weight 330 grams, distributed in cases of 144 pieces.

Finally, the fourth concerns Despar Italia, with medium eggs under the “ABF Despar” brand in packs of 4 pieces.

What to do if you have eggs at home
The code to check is H10813, the deadline is 27 September 2026. If they match, the eggs should not be consumed, not even cooked: they must be returned to the point of sale, where they are entitled to a refund or replacement.
