Xiaomi launches its first heat pump washer dryer that saves up to 73% on the electricity bill

Xiaomi has put a heat pump inside a washer-dryer. The new Mijia Washing Machine with Delicate Wash Pro Supreme Edition Heat Pump Washer-Dryer 13kg is the first model of the Chinese brand to use this drying technology. Washes up to 13 kg of laundry and dries 9maintaining the dimensions of a normal front-loading machine.

The most interesting innovation lies in the way it dries. Xiaomi declares up to 73% less electricity consumption compared to your own condensing washer-dryers and times reduced by 49% thanks to a heat pump with double fan. These are numbers provided by the manufacturer, so should be read as such until independent evidence on the model arrives.

Because the heat pump consumes less

A traditional condensing washer dryer must continuously produce the heat necessary to dry fabrics. The heat pump, however, works in a closed circuit: it recovers a good part of the thermal energy already present in the air, eliminates humidity and puts that air back into circulation.

The technology is far from experimental in separate dryers. The European Commission recalls that since July 2025 the new European requirements for domestic dryers have pushed the market towards more efficient heat pump machines. However, washer-dryers are excluded from that specific regulation: putting everything in the same appliance still presents different constraints in terms of space, air management and load capacity.

Xiaomi has placed the heat pump assembly at the top of the machine and claims that this solution reduces the resistance encountered by the refrigerant, improving heat exchange by 59%.. Here too, this is a data declared by the company, referring to its internal architecture.

Washes 13 kg, but dries 9

The larger number printed on the model name may be misleading: the 13 kg concern washing. When you switch to drying the maximum capacity drops to 9 kg. This is a normal difference in washer dryers, because clothes need much more space in the drum to dry properly. On the other hand, Xiaomi has brought the washing capacity a step above the previous 12 kg Mijia models.

The new device delivers 35 washing and drying programs and 11 modes dedicated to fabric care. There is also a double-layer filter to collect lint and fibers during drying, which is far from a secondary component when hot air is continuously circulated inside the machine.

On the washing front, the proprietary Super Electrolysis technology returns. Xiaomi claims that it can intervene on 20 types of difficult stains and revive yellowed fabrics; it also claims a 99% reduction in bacteria through cold treatment. These values also come from tests and communication from the manufacturer.

In 2026, evidently not even the dirty laundry basket can be completely left out of artificial intelligence. The new Mijia integrates a system that combines algorithms developed by Xiaomi and linguistic models: the user can indicate material, color and type of stain and receive a suggestion on the program and parameters to use. The model also enters the Xiaomi Home ecosystem for remote control and management.

For now it remains in China

The list price communicated for the Chinese market is 6,499 yuanalthough local promotions and incentives can significantly lower the actual price. Xiaomi has not yet announced international marketing of this version.

In Italy the closest comparison is with the Mijia Front Load Washer Dryer Pro 9kg already present in the official range. That model still uses condensing drying and has lower capacities than the new machine unveiled in China. The difference compared to the model already sold in Italy lies above all in the drying: here Xiaomi switches from condensation to the heat pump. In China it is already inside the washer dryer. However, there is no date yet to see it in Italian stores.
